Military Friends Group to be Formed
The trustees of the Anne S. K. Brown Military Collection are laying the
foundation for a new interest group. Named, appropriately enough, Friends
of the Military Collection, the new group will enjoy activities sponsored
by the Military Collection including lectures and symposia.
The Military Collection is one of the largest research collections at Brown
and occupies the third floor of the John Hay Library. With over 12,000
books, 30,000 etchings, drawings and lithographs and 5,000 miniature soldiers,
the collection is internationally known and respected as one of the largest
collections of military iconography in the world.
Like members of the Friends of the Library, members of the Friends of the
Military Collection will receive Among Friends, and other privileges
of membership. Opportunities will be made available to members to acquire
publications and reprints of books such as Mrs. Brown's Anatomy of Glory
as they become available.
Those interested should contact Margherita Cappelli at 401 863-1518. Current
Friends of the Library will be charged no additional membership fee.
