Fluxus artist Robert Watts created several series of ?artistamps? to comment on politics, authority, and popular culture. His works are the earliest known stamps to be printed as art pieces, and feature mashups of art masterpieces, postcard imagery, advertisements, and popular portraiture. ?Safe Post? and ?Jockpost? stamps were made available as sheets and in stamp-dispensing machines in exhibit spaces.
