Announcement | LED Light Bulbs

Energy efficient LED light bulbs are being installed in all light fixtures throughout Library buildings. This effort to increase our energy efficiency is in direct alignment with Brown’s mission to cut campus greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2025 and to achieve net-zero emissions no later than 2040. ILLiad system unavailable Wednesday-Thursday

The interlibrary loan system ILLiad, which the Library relies on to fulfill patron requests for certain materials from other libraries, will be unavailable starting the afternoon of Wednesday, April 3, and running through the following day. Service is expected to be restored by Thursday afternoon.

Planned maintenance and service interruption: multiple library systems

The library has scheduled an update and associated maintenance for the library catalog software on Tuesday, March 26 beginning at 10 am. This will require approximately eight hours of downtime for the library catalog and services tied to the software API. Change in access to the clinical information resource “UpToDate”

Starting on August 1, 2018, UpToDate (UtD) will only be available through the intranets of Brown’s affiliated hospitals (Lifespan, CNE, VAMC) or by individual subscription, and not additionally through the University Library. John Hay Library Closed August 28 – 29

The John Hay Library will be closed on Monday August 28 and Tuesday August 29, 2017. This will allow staff to attend a two day training session. The Hay will re-open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday August 30th. Please e-mail hay@brown.edu, if you have any questions. We apologize for any inconvenience.

JSTOR Full Text Articles Unavailable

JSTOR ejournal service is available for searching, but full text articles are currently unavailable. It is a widespread problem that is not limited to just Brown University. JSTOR is aware of the problem and working to fix it. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sciences Library Renovation

In preparation for renovation of several floors for new tenants and services, the Sciences Library is undergoing some significant changes.  Workers are moving and shifting materials around, materials are being transferred off-site, and there will be a lot of changes—some temporary, some permanent—in what is housed in the building and where.  A fuller description of Sciences Library Renovation
