New Library Home Page and Search Technology — Coming September 1

A cleaner, less cluttered library home page will debut on September 1, 2011. The new design will gracefully adjust to tablet and smart phone dimensions and will feature new technology for searching all of the library’s resources from a single search box. These resources include: “Books+” — Josiah (library catalog), plus over 57,000 digital objects New Library Home Page and Search Technology — Coming September 1

All Libraries Close at 2:00pm Friday, April 1

All of the Libraries will close at 2:00pm Friday, April 1. This includes the Rockefeller Library, Sciences Library, Orwig Music Library, John Hay and the Friedman Center. The complete listing of Library hours can be found here: http://library.brown.edu/libweb/hours.php

Library Web Server Problems Resolved

Update, January 22, 2009: Library web services have now been restored. We are experiencing problems with the library web server. The library website is currently available only on campus or via the VPN client off campus. Josiah, the library catalog, is not affected. Links to databases and e-journals are available in Josiah. Access to Blackwell Publishing E-Journals Interrupted

Following the recent merger of Blackwell Publishing’s and Wiley InterScience’s electronic journal collections there has been widespread problems with access to Blackwell E-Journal content. Wiley is working to correct these problems and making progress, but issues persist. All Blackwell titles are not affected, but a goodly number that Brown subscribes to are. Cashless at the Rockefeller Library

Beginning August 1st, the Rockefeller will stop accepting cash payments for late fees and other charges and will no longer provide change. The library accepts checks, credit cards and declining balance for payment due.

Absolute Quiet Room temporarily closed

Beginning on Friday July 20th books stored in the Rockefeller Library’s Absolute Quiet Room on Level A will be moved temporarily to the paging side of Level C. On Monday July 23rd, the Absolute Quiet Room will be closed for a period of approximately two weeks for some minor repairs. We apologize for any inconvenience.

EZProxy Move to New Server

CIS will be switching the Off-campus Access Service proxy to another server late on Sunday night, June 11.
