Four win prizes for LibQUAL+ TM

Four prize winners were selected as part of a random drawing from the almost 1,700 members of the Brown community who responded to the Library’s recent LibQUAL+ TM survey. The winners included one faculty member, two undergraduate students, and a medical student:
• Doug Cattie ’10
• Mariah Erlick’11
• Ann Kuo MD ’11
• Pura Nieto, Senior Lecturer in Classics
Winners had their choice of either an iPod shuffle or a $50 gift certificate to the Brown Bookstore.
Entitled LibQUAL+ TM and sponsored by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the survey is designed to help libraries assess their strengths and weaknesses. Brown is one of 144 colleges and universities participating in the spring 2008 LibQUAL+ TM survey, which was last administered on campus in 2005.
“I am grateful to the Brown community for taking time out of their busy schedules to provide us with suggestions for ways to improve our services,” said Harriette Hemmasi, Joukowsky Family University Librarian. “This is a good opportunity for us to take stock of how far we’ve come and where we need to go to support this extraordinary academic community.”
The survey has had a significant impact in shaping Library priorities. Feedback from the 2005 LibQUAL+ TM survey led the Library to place a particular emphasis on upgrading facilities (e.g., renovations in the Rock, Friedman Study Center, etc.), adding more digital content, and revamping its web site.
