Your HBLS librarians are always here to support you as researchers, scholars, clinicians, and fellow members of our Brown community. Here are a few resources and tips to support your research and scholarship.
Research Impact and Publication Tracking

Thinking about a grant, or more broadly about research strategy? Our research impact service can partner with researchers, centers, and departments. We can help you demonstrate publication impact, identify and show research collaborations, and guide data-informed decisions. Learn more and request support on HBLS research impact guide.
New Sage Open Access Publishing Agreement

Brown University authors can now publish open access in many Sage journals without paying an article processing charge (APC). The participating hybrid journals (link downloads an Excel spreadsheet) include many titles in the health sciences and public health.
To be eligible for the fee waiver, the corresponding author must be affiliated with Brown and have an article accepted for publication in a participating journal that has entered or will enter production between January 1, 2026, and December 31, 2028.
When the article has been accepted and enters the production process, the author will receive an email from Sage Journals Licensing & Payment to accept the APC waiver and select their preferred Creative Commons license. More information about the APC waiver agreement with Sage can be found in this Sage FAQ.
If you need assistance, or have a question about selecting a Creative Commons License, please contact HBLS at HealthSciLibrarians@brown.edu. More details on Brown’s open access fee waiver agreements and discounts with Sage and other publishers can be found on our guide to paying for open access publications.
