The Library is pleased to announce the appointment of Hilary Kraus as the inaugural Health Sciences Librarian for Clinical Support. In this new position, Hilary will be the primary liaison with responsibility for the clinical departments (including faculty and residents) of the Warren Alpert Medical School. She will join a team of Health and Biomedical Library Services (HBLS) librarians who provide curricular and research support to the Division of Biology and Medicine, the School of Public Health, and life/health science-adjacent research at Brown.
Hilary holds a BA in English and Creative Writing from Northwestern University, and an MS in Information from University of Michigan. Currently a Research Services Librarian at University of Connecticut, she has also worked as a sciences/health sciences librarian at UMass Dartmouth, Johnson and Wales University, DePaul University, and Loyola University Chicago. She has fulfilled the Medical Library Association’s Systematic Reviews Specialization (Level I) and is an active member of ALA’s Reference & User Services Association, the Medical Library Association, and Forward Libraries’ League of Awesome Librarians.
A Chicagoan at heart, Hilary relocated to New England in 2008. In her personal time, she is an avid crafter and reader of genre fiction.
Hilary’s first day will be January 11, 2024. Her main office will be in the Champlin Library at 222 Richmond (within the Warren Alpert Medical School).
