Laura Haygood will join the Library as the new Health Sciences Librarian for Public Health. Laura will be a member of the Health and Biomedical Library Services (HBLS) team of librarians who provide curricular and research support to the School of Public Health, the Division of Biology and Medicine, and life/health science-adjacent research at Brown.
A native of Oklahoma, Laura holds a BA and an MLIS from the University of Oklahoma. Currently the Medical Reference Librarian at Texas Christian University, she has also worked as a health sciences librarian at the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center, at UT-Arlington, and as a contract librarian for the American Heart Association, providing expert searching services for clinical guidelines. She has fulfilled the Medical Library Association’s Systematic Reviews Specialization, and is also a provisional member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP).
In her personal time, Laura enjoys hiking and running (slowly), as well as crafts like knitting, sewing, and crochet. She is a Sooner fan (no matter how the team is doing!) and is a proud aunt to 4 niblings.
Laura’s first day will be August 14, 2023.
