Library Adds Thousands of E-Books

The Library recently added 23,000+ ebooks to its collections. Subjects include business, economics, computers, technology, humanities, life and physical sciences, social and behavioral sciences, travel, and fiction. All books are cataloged in Josiah, the Library Catalog, and may also be found on the Library Web ebook collections page . More books will be added in the future.
SAVE THE DATE: Library Eresources Fair at Faunce House on November 3. You could win an iPod!
Please go ahead and start exploring these ebooks, and send any feedback you may have to Anne_Nolan@brown.edu.

The three newest collections are:
1. From NetLibrary – summer reading and travel/leisure. These 500+ titles are now available in Josiah. You can see all of the individual titles once you login, or by searching NetLibrary as an author in Josiah.
You must create your own login name and password when first using NetLibrary. You can only print or download one page at a time, and these books are only available to one user at a time, with a 2 week checkout period. You are limited to checking out 2 books at a time. We own these books in perpetuity.
2. From ebrary – Academic Complete collection. ebrary offers simultaneous multi-user access to over 23,000 titles by over 210 leading academic and professional publishers. Concentrations include business and economics, computers and technology, humanities, life and physical sciences, and social and behavioral sciences. You can access them from the ebrary login page or by searching ebrary as an author in Josiah.
You will need to do an initial download of the ebrary reader—look on the home page for instructions.
In order to use your bookshelf to save book pages, highlighted passages, and other information, you must create a login and password. Some books have viewing restrictions decided upon by the publisher. You can only print or download one page at a time, but these books are available to multiple-users at the same time. This is a subscription, so we will not own these books in perpetuity.
3. Coming soon! – Ebook Library (EBL). Although EBL offers content across all subject areas, the initial focus is on recent titles — most specifically in the areas of science and technology. These titles will be able to be viewed for 10 minutes before the user is prompted with a question about purchasing the book for the Library. Brown has elected to use EBL’s Demand-Driven Acquisitions option — an ebook selection feature that can be used independently or to supplement traditional title-by-title pre-selection.
