Moon-travelling Copernicus Facsimile on Display in John Hay Lobby

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the moon landing, there is a small display in the lobby of the John Hay Library. Among the items on view is a facsimile edition of Copernicus’ “De revolutionibus orbium caelestium” which traveled more than six million miles in outer space. It was one of the items carried by astronaut Byron Lichtenberg, member of the Class of 1969, on board Spacelab I during its first flight in November 1983.
The display will be up during the month of July. The John Hay Library is open 9 to 5, Monday through Friday. The library will be closed on Friday July 3rd. For more information please e-mail Hay@brown.edu.
