Library Catalog Down Thursday Morning, January 5

A software upgrade will be installed on Josiah, the library’s online catalog, Thursday morning, January 5, 2006. Most library services will be unaffected by this, and Josiah should be fully functional by noon. While Josiah is unavailable, Brown’s library holdings may be searched on InRhode, the shared catalog of Rhode Island academic libraries.

Updated Library Hours for Winter Break

To conserve energy costs, the Rockefeller Library is the only library that will be open during the holiday break week. The Rock will be open Tuesday, December 27 thru Thursday, December 29, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All other libraries will be closed from 5:00 pm on December 22 until January 2, 2006.

During the break, Library staff will page requested materials from the Sciences Library for Brown users on a daily basis (December 27-29). (See details at the link above.)
Also, Brown’s extensive collection of electronic journals, books and databases is available 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world with your Brown ID and password. Remember to use se the VPN client or EZProxy for remote access.
We recognize that while classes and exams are over on December 20, your academic work does not stop. Library staff are available to assist you in making your winter break a productive time for your study and research. Library Database of the Week – Humanities International Index
|
1975-present; Humanities International Index provides indexing and abstracting for over 1,700 journals, including deep backfiles for some of the most important journals in the area of humanities. Includes all data from the American Humanities Index plus materials from international journals, books and reference works. This database provides citations and abstracts for articles, essays and reviews, and original creative works including poems, fiction, photos, paintings and illustrations.
Off-campus users must log in via the VPN client or EZproxy.
