  • Katrina Jackson: Director of Cataloging and Discovery

    Katrina Jackson has been named the new Director of Cataloging and Discovery. Katrina will bring a wealth of experience in leading cataloging and metadata teams for general, special, and electronic collections to Brown. She joins us from Swarthmore Colleage where she served as the Metadata Management Librarian. Katrina has also worked as the Cataloging/Metadata Librarian at Goucher College, Special Collections Librarian at Georgia Southern University’s Zack S. Henderson Library, and the Cataloging Librarian for the Vietnam Archive in Lubbock, Texas. 

    Katrina’s first day will be November 1, 2023.

  • Laura Haygood: Health Sciences Librarian for Public Health

    Laura Haygood will join the Library as the new Health Sciences Librarian for Public Health. Laura will be a member of the Health and Biomedical Library Services (HBLS) team of librarians who provide curricular and research support to the School of Public Health, the Division of Biology and Medicine, and life/health science-adjacent research at Brown.

    A native of Oklahoma, Laura holds a BA and an MLIS from the University of Oklahoma. Currently the Medical Reference Librarian at Texas Christian University, she has also worked as a health sciences librarian at the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center, at UT-Arlington, and as a contract librarian for the American Heart Association, providing expert searching services for clinical guidelines. She has fulfilled the Medical Library Association’s Systematic Reviews Specialization, and is also a provisional member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP).

    In her personal time, Laura enjoys hiking and running (slowly), as well as crafts like knitting, sewing, and crochet. She is a Sooner fan (no matter how the team is doing!) and is a proud aunt to 4 niblings.

    Laura’s first day will be August 14, 2023.

  • David Givens: Director of Resource Acquisitions

    The Library is pleased to announce the appointment of David Givens as the new Director of Resource Acquisitions. David joins us from Loyola University Chicago where he was the Monographs Acquisitions Coordinator and the subject specialist for Fine Arts. 

    As the new Director of Resource Acquisitions, David will oversee the operations and processes for the Scholarly Resources areas of ordering, receiving, invoicing, licensing and e-resources assessment, and the documentation of workflows from order placements to material receipt. He will also oversee the processing of invoices for payment through the University’s finance system, and he will resolve high level problems related to payment or vendor records and coordinate the Scholarly Resources processing of incoming gifts.

    David’s first day will be May 22, 2023.
