Mel and Cindy Yoken Cultural Series: An Evening with Dorie Greenspan
|
7 pm
Lownes Room, John Hay Library
Guest Speaker: Dorie Greenspan
Called a ‘culinary guru’ by The New York Times and inducted into the Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America, Dorie Greenspan is the author of ten cookbooks; her latest, Around My French Table, was on The New York Times Bestseller List and named the Cookbook of the Year for 2010 by Epicurious and Amazon. A four-time James Beard Foundation award-winner for her cookbooks and magazine articles, and the winner of the IACP’s Cookbook of the Year Award, Dorie has collaborated with many celebrated chefs, among them Julia Child (Dorie wrote the book, Baking with Julia), Daniel Boulud and Pierre Hermé, France’s most famous pastry chef. She is a long-time contributor to Bon Appétit and a frequent guest on NPR’s All Things Considered. Her book, Baking From My Home to Yours, inspired the creation of Tuesdays with Dorie, a weekly online baking club that has been ongoing for over three years. A similar group, French Fridays with Dorie, now with over 1500 members, was created to cook through Around My French Table. Dorie’s own blog, which she started four years ago, was named one of the top 20 food blogs in the world by The Times of London.
Dorie lives in New York City, Westbrook, CT and Paris, France and is never sure which place has vanilla or where her various chargers are, but she considers it a teensy price to pay for the joys of cooking in three kitchens.
