BUL New Hire Orientation

Your First Few Months

By now, we hope that you feel more at home here at the Brown University Library, and that you’ve been taking advantage of the personal and professional development opportunities available to you. Further explore the Brown community and all it has to offer you as its newest member!

  • Meet with your supervisor on a regular basis. Ask to receive feedback on work performed.
  • Continue to meet with other colleagues and departments. Learn more about what work is being performed and what type of services are provided.
  • Continue your 12-month tour of the Brown University Libraries. Discover all that Brown’s Libraries have to offer, and meet your colleagues who work there.
  • Visit the website for the Center for Learning and Professional Development (CLPD) to explore professional development opportunities that will assist you in meeting your professional and personal goals.
  • Familiarize yourself with Brown and all that the community has to offer. Attend a Wellness Session, one of the Staff Advisory Council (SAC) events, or take in an exhibit at the Haffenreffer, Bell Art Gallery, or the John Hay Library.
  • Provide the Onboarding Committee with your impressions and feedback on the onboarding process. Please let us know what we can do to improve and make the onboarding process easier.
