The John Hay Library is open to all members of the Brown community and the general public. Entry into the John Hay Library after 5:00pm weekdays and on weekends requires access by Brown ID card-swipe. See Library Hours for additional information.
Wireless access is available throughout the Library. Brown users connect by visiting http://wifi.brown.edu. Guest Access is also available. A black-and-white Paw Prints printer is available in the first-floor lounge.
The John Hay Library's Willis Grand Reading Room is available for individual study. Research visits to the Gildor Family Special Collections Reading Room are available on an appointment-only basis Monday through Friday. See the Visiting Guide for additional information about requesting materials and scheduling appointments.
A ramp and building entrance to the John Hay Library is located on the side of the building. Accessible and gender neutral bathrooms are located on the main level of the Library and the 3rd floor. The Bopp Seminar Room, the Primary Source Lab, the Anne S. K. Brown Military Collection Gallery, and other museum rooms on the top floor are all accessible by elevator. The Bruhn Room is not accessible.
Visitors may enjoy food and beverages in the first floor lounge, to the right of the main entrance. A water fountain is located near the restrooms.
