
To achieve the Library’s strategic plan, the Library will operationalize the key priorities listed below. Each priority area has a set of goals intended to focus the Library’s work in fulfillment of the strategic plan.
The priorities, for the most part, encompass work across departmental lines; individual Library units will contribute to a number of different goals in various ways perhaps according to different timelines.

- Develop a compelling and creative vision that strengthens the activities and wider visibility of the John Hay Library as a center of scholarship and education
- Ensure that the John Hay Library adheres to the highest professional standards for security, preservation, and collection stewardship
- Communications
- Prepare for a redesign of the Library’s web site that aligns with the University’s web standards and protocols
- Develop a communications plan and set of exemplary practices (includes internal and external, social media, etc.)

- Make the Library a more welcoming place for users and staff
