Scott Library

A collection of 1,076 volumes in Icelandic, Pali, and Sanskrit formerly belonging to Dr. Adrian Scott, Class of 1872, was presented to the Library in 1914 by his classmates. The collection also includes works about linguistics, orthography and languague development. The Brown University Library staff created an inventory of the collection in 1918 when each title was accessioned. At least 87 volumes have been withdrawn from the library over the years. The books in this collection have never been shelved together. They are stored at the Rockefeller Library and the John Hay Library. The comprehensive inventory of the original collection is available in the "Scott Library Collection accession inventory" (see link below).
