  • A Day at the Beach

    During July and August, the John Hay Library will be exhibiting a small selection of items related to “A Day at the Beach”. The exhibit includes a book on shells with “contributions” by Edgar Allan Poe, illustrations of Martha’s Vineyard at the turn of the century, sheet music, and a flyer on Rhode Island’s Oakland Beach. The John Hay Library is open from 9 to 5, Monday through Friday.

  • Audubon’s “Iceland Falcon” on display at the John Hay Library

    A volume of John James Audubon’s master work, The Birds of America, is on display on the main floor of the John Hay Library. Each bird will be on display for only one month. This month’s bird is “Iceland Falcon”. The library is open 9 to 5, Monday through Friday. The Library will be closed on Wednesday July 4, 2007.
    This elephant folio edition of The Birds of America, bound in six volumes, was presented by Albert E. Lownes to the Library on the occasion of his 50th class reunion in 1970.
