CRIARL Union List of Serials Removed| Brown has served as the host and the editorial office for the Consortium of Rhode Island Academic and Research Libraries (CRIARL) Union List of Serials since the early 80s. The List has shared space on the Josiah server since 1996 after it migrated to the Innovative Interfaces software. CRIARL has decided that the cost of maintaining the List in the current environment is too expensive and therefore the Union List ceased to exist as of June 30th; the links to the CRIARL Union List have been removed from the Library’s web page. The serial holdings of those CRIARL libraries that are not members of the Higher Education Library Information Network (HELIN) are in the process of being added to the HELIN database and will be available there soon. Before closing this chapter, people at Brown who have invested time and effort in the creation and maintenance of the List need to be mentioned. Chief among these is Gretchen Yealy who has nearly single-handedly managed its operation and maintenance. Also, Gavin Ferriby (since departed) contributed substantially during his time here and Howard Pasternack. For more information contact: Steven_Thompson@brown.edu

Broadway: The American Musical complements the current exhibition at the John Hay Library, which will run for most of the rest of the summer.
The “Broadway Musical” has been an exciting part of American cultural life since the mid-19th century. A trip to New York to see the shows is always a treat, and the season’s hits that tour the country have been for many years eagerly anticipated events. This exhibition, drawn from the holdings of the John Hay Library, is a small taste of the thousands of musical plays that have appeared on the New York stage in the last century and a half. Drawn from the Harris Collection of American Poetry and Plays, the Sheet Music Collection, the Manuscripts Collections, the Starred Book Collection, and the Robert J. Tierney Collection of Entertainment Memorabilia, it includes examples of scores, librettos, sheet music, souvenir albums and playbills
Many thanks to all who contributed to this project; they areacknowledged in the “About this Exhibit” page.
