Library Undergraduate Research Award

The Library will be awarding two awards of $750 (each) in recognition of excellence in undergraduate research projects that make creative and extensive use of the University Library’s collections. Application deadline February 18, 2009. Detailed information available here.

Lincoln, Drawn from Life: Five Artists, Six Portraits

Lincoln Rooms, John Hay Library 20 Prospect Street Providence, RI 02912 This Lincoln Bicentennial exhibit allows the viewer to compare and contrast six oil-on-canvas portraits of Lincoln created by five different artists who made first-hand observations and drawings of Lincoln during his lifetime. Brown “New Curriculum” 1968 Report Now Available Online

From Martha Mitchell’s Encyclopedia Brunoniana : On May 8, 1969, after a “marathon” meeting, the faculty voted the first major change in the curriculum since the “Ducasse curriculum” of 1947. The move toward curricular reform began with a GISP (Group Independent Study Program) which decided in 1966 to study education at Brown. Visual History Archive of USC Shoah Foundation Now Available

The Brown University Library is pleased to announce that Brown users now have on-campus access to the Visual History Archive of the USC Shoah Foundation Institute. The VHA contains nearly 52,000 visual history testimonies of survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust, videotaped in 56 countries in 32 languages.
