Updates From Around the Library (May 2014)

Here are a few recent highlights from some of the Library’s various blogs: Brown Curio has a post celebrating the SciLi Duck. The Rock50 website has added its latest batch of memories. Transformations | Fifty Years of the Brown University–Tougaloo College Partnership

The Transformations exhibit examines the unique relationship between Brown University and Tougaloo College (Mississippi) over its fifty year history. Photographs and printed materials offer a glimpse of the early years of the partnership as well as the depth of personal change experienced by participants in the exchange.  From Civil Rights to the present, Tougaloo has provided the Brown community with an important Transformations | Fifty Years of the Brown University–Tougaloo College Partnership

Music in the Ocean State Exhibit

The Music in the Ocean State exhibit was created to highlight Rhode Island music & musicians, in honor of the New England Chapter of the Music Library Association’s spring meeting (hosted by the Orwig Music Library on March 28, 2014). Library Pizza Nights

Pizza Night is finally here. Every year the Library hosts two nights of pizza. The first (Tuesday) night will be in the Sciences Library. The next night there will be pizza in the Rock. Students that enjoy studying in a library as well as eating pizza are encouraged to attend. South Africa Catalyst Project

April 27, 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the end of apartheid in South Africa. Apartheid was a system of racial segregation in South Africa enforced through legislation from 1948 through 1994. Lives Change @ Your Library | National Library Week

This week (April 13–19) is National Library Week. The theme this year is “Lives Change @ Your Library.” First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA). Libraries across the country celebrate each April. It is an opportunity for the contributions of our nation’s libraries and Lives Change @ Your Library | National Library Week
