New Library Data Center

The Data Center located on Level 1 at the Rockefeller Library offers one-stop shopping for all your data needs. It stores many numeric and spatial datasets for all subjects, such as international censuses, (China, India, etc.), history, (Atlantic slave trade), economic data, (LehmanLive), quality of life, (world happiness database), and more. Language Resource Center collections moved to Library

Effective August 17th, the University Library has assumed responsibility for housing and circulating the print and video collections of the Language Resource Center (LRC). The video collections have been moved to the Sciences Library; books and bound journals have been transferred to Rockefeller Library. Josiah records for these materials have been updated to reflect their Language Resource Center collections moved to Library

Providence High School Students Explore Library Careers on Career Day

On Thursday, May 28th, approximately 40 Providence public high school students will spend the day touring the Brown University libraries, speaking to and hearing from staff members at all levels about library career opportunities. New Reading Room Open in the Rock

Students quickly made themselves at home in the new Rockefeller Library reading room when it opened on Thursday, April 30th. Ready just in time for finals, the first floor space offers a range of study settings, including comfortable chairs and couches, an enclosed room for group study, a row of single desks along the library’s New Reading Room Open in the Rock

New Computer Availability Displays in Friedman & the Rock

There are now monitors in the Rock Foyer & Friedman Study Center that display images of which computers are currently available (white) or in use (blue). Before you head off to the library you can view the maps online via the CIS website: Computer Cluster Availability.

Brown LibX – Firefox Browser Extension Now Available for Internet Explorer

Brown LibX, a Firefox browser plugin for direct library access, is now available for Internet Explorer. With LibX in your browser you can highlight text on any web page, right click, and search the text in Josiah or Google Scholar. Ask-A-Librarian Service

Some recent changes have been made to the Library’s Ask-A-Librarian services. You may now send text messages from your cell phone to BULtxt@brown.edu with real time response. You can ask general questions of the BULchat service, and a new service allows you to also chat directly with subject librarians. Ask us!
