Racial Justice Resource Center

Welcome to the Racial Justice Resource Center

Brown University Library’s Racial Justice Resource Center serves as a hub for studying racism and racial justice in the United States and globally. Located on the second floor of the John D. Rockefeller Library, the Center is a space for members of the Brown community to create new possibilities for advancing research, instruction, learning, and gathering around ideas of racial justice. Brown community members are invited to use the space and its resources for a deeper understanding of the crisis of structural racism, bias, and violence against people of color.

The Center identifies scholarship, events, research, and conversations across the Brown University community and academia addressing racial justice. The resources available within the Center explore race-based oppression, discrimination, policy, and the activism and efforts to confront them across disciplines. We offer this space for the Brown community to deepen knowledge and engage in the work of cultivating an environment in which every person cultivate an environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

The Racial Justice Resource Center Committee is committed to stewarding and advancing the mission of the Racial Justice Resource Center as a vibrant hub for inquiry, dialogue, and action on issues of racial injustice. As members of the Brown University community, we work to elevate the Center’s role as a space of engagement, reflection, and learning, supporting research, instruction, and collective efforts aimed at dismantling racism and systemic inequity.

Through active collaboration, the Committee curates and promotes scholarship, events, and resources that confront race-based oppression, amplify marginalized voices, and champion the work of racial justice across academic disciplines. We call on our Brown community to not only make use of the Center’s offerings but to participate in its vision—using the space to deepen understanding, inspire activism, and cultivate an environment in which all people are treated with dignity, respect, and care.
