The Unicorn Found

An Alphabet Book for Adults

Pithy and full of wit, this visualized alphabet book combines illustrations by Fritz Scholder, a Native American artist working in the latter half of the 20th century, and poems by Jeannette Eyerly, an author of young-adult fiction. Influenced by post-modern and pop styles, Scholder’s work typically confronts the mythologies of Native American culture. Representing the letter “U”, Scholder depicts Eunice, the unicorn, and Eyerly’s poem poses the question of the animal’s validity.
