In Through the Looking Glass, Carroll reverses the traditional role of the unicorn as a magical and mythical creature, having the character perceive Alice as a monster but finally conceding to believe in the existence of the girl, so long as she believes in him. This portrait of Carroll’s unicorn is one of a series of more than 100 prints that artist Barry Moser, celebrated illustrator and former faculty member at the Rhode Island School of Design, created for a special edition of the classic book.
