The Library’s new search service does not replace the Library’s existing services such as Josiah (Library catalog) or database and ejournal lists. What distinguishes the new service is the ability to search across previously separate systems from a single search box and get back fast and relevant results. See: https://search.library.brown.edu/
Josiah is the Library’s online catalog. Josiah contains records for books, journal titles, microforms, and other formats. It does NOT contain articles; instead, use databases to locate articles.
InRhode was the combined catalog of the HELIN Consortium (RI academic libraries) and Josiah. As of September 2015, Brown University is no longer a member of the HELIN consortium, and has discontinued participation in its InRhode service. Please use our easyBorrow service instead.

WorldCat
With over 69 million records, WorldCat is the world’s largest bibliographic database. Use the “Request this item” link to pass a search to the Library’s easyBorrow service.
BorrowDirect allows you to place online requests for materials that are not available at Brown. You need your 14-digit Library barcode to place requests. These services are generally faster than Interlibrary Loan, but materials are not renewable. The Library’s easyBorrow system will search BorrowDirect on your behalf and place a request with the most appropriate service.
Ocean State Libraries (formerly CLAN) provides access to materials in all of the public libraries in Rhode Island. Brown students can obtain an OSL card by presenting a student ID.
